When you have a boiler in your company premises, you need to take good care of your boiler to keep it running for a long time. Without proper care and maintenance, your boiler will become a huge bomb, which can explode anytime and cause massive destruction. In a boiler, we deal with a high amount of heat and pressure; hence it can be very dangerous to ignore its care. Industries like textile mills, sugar factories, chemical manufacturing plants, paper mills, etc. use boilers extensively and it is their responsibility to keep their boilers in a healthy state. 

Keeping your boiler running smoothly and safely can be a difficult task, and it requires a high level of expertise to keep your boiler safe and running for long time. There are basic two things that you need to keep in mind for your boiler, one is that your boiler operation must be done in a proper way and the other is that your boiler should be maintained regularly by well trained professional who understand the needs of your boiler. 

 In order to make sure that your boiler is operated in a proper and efficient way, you need to make sure that the person you have hired for operating your boiler has ample amount of experience and proper qualification to operate a boiler. For that, you should check his educational qualification, which includes a degree or diploma in boiler operation. Additionally, you must make sure that the boiler operator you have hired for your boiler has a valid boiler operator license. Only a well qualified and well experienced boiler operator knows how to run a boiler with maximum efficiency and without causing any damage to the equipment and to those working near it. 

For boiler maintenance, first of all, you must schedule your boiler’s maintenance at regular and frequent intervals and sometimes you must carry out preventive maintenance on your boiler. Boiler maintenance includes cleaning of boiler tubes and shell along with repair and replacement of faulty and malfunctioning parts of your boiler. 

Cleaning boiler tubes is necessary as there is a lot of debris like sludge and corroded particles of the tubes get deposited on the inner surface of the tube. This accumulation of dirt causes lower efficiency of boiler which leads to more consumption of fuel and economic loss to the company. Electric tube cleaners are used for cleaning the boiler tubes in an efficient way. Other types of tube cleaners available in the market include pneumatic and hydraulic tube cleaners. Some boilers even choose to do cleaning manually for smaller boilers with the help of some chemicals and cleaning agents. 

After cleaning of the boiler tubes, the boiler is inspected for any type of malfunctioning or fault in any components of the boiler. If there is any fault or defect found in the boiler, it is repaired or replaced with immediate effect to restore best working of the boiler.
